Who needs therapy?

Everyone can benefit. Whether you are knee-deep in trauma, waist deep in depression, or just want a "tune-up," therapy is about discovering that inner strength and using it to live most adaptively. It is about clearing what's in the way so your true self can shine. Reach out and let's talk.

You're a "Marriage and Family Therapist." Do you only see couples and families?

Thank you for asking. That is a common misconception.

No, I am qualified and able to see children, teens, adults of all ages, groups, couples, and families. The title simply implies that no person is an island. Your family and surrounding people affect you, so that is considered during therapy.
So, if it is not clear yet, the answer is no. I do not only see couples and families. All individuals welcome.

Will my "stuff" be everywhere? Where does what I tell you go?

Our conversations are confidential but for the exceptions below. This means that, in individual sessions, your "stuff" stays safe with me. I will not be telling your brother, sister, teacher, significant other, parent, or child anything but for the exceptions below.
The exceptions are if I think you may be about to hurt yourself or someone else or if it is a case of child abuse, older adult abuse, or dependant adult abuse. Please also note that if you have an open court case and records are subpoenad by the judge, I would have to be release them.
Please also note that I have a no-secrets policy in couples therapy between the individuals in the couple.

How long does each therapy session take?

Sessions are typically 50 minutes, although our initial meeting will be 90 minutes to provide time to fill out initial paperwork and begin getting to know you. In certain cases, EMDR sessions may be extended to 90 minutes but this would only be after discussion and mutual agreement between us. Fee would also differ in that case.
